In addition to my comments below, I'm downgrading my review further to one star. I recently purchased a Gibson Les Paul Standard from these guys. After months of various repairs and replacement parts from Gibson, I have to send the guitar back to Nashville for repair. I called guitar center to ask for an old box to ship it in. They said they don't keep them. I asked if they could take my number and hold on to one when they came across it, and they said no because they use them to ship things back to corporate. I'm sorry, but when you spend thousands of dollars on a guitar, the least you can do is save a box for your client who is experiencing problems with the merchandise.
The sales associates are very quick to offer a smile and welcome you, but when you ask for assistance, they are also very quick to simply point you to a corner of the store without offering to assist or answer questions. They are equally as quick to pass the buck to another associate. The awkward looks as associates try to order one another around makes for an uncomfortable consumer experience. And this has happened to me both times Ive made purchases. In fact, I went to make a purchase today and asked for a particular product. The gentleman behind the counter pointed to a locked display case and said, "it's over there." When I asked whether I could get into the display case (which I very obviously couldn't) he just gave me an awkward look and sent another associate to help me. As a consumer, I don't want to feel like a burden.

Further, their product knowledge isn't very deep. I haven't had any of my questions answered and am having to research products independently. (As a note, I'm talking quality products and electronics - not cheapo generic stuff). Granted, I'm a gear nut and tone geek and read up on this stuff, but they should at least be familiar with their products and offerings.
Matt Warwick is extremely helpful. They let you try the instruments without being pushy or over your shoulder. Sincerely enjoyed playing the drums then piano then guitar with my girlfriend and her son.
I'm a local working musician and was thrilled about the Guitar Center openning up in West Side. We've been in need of a music shop with a wide, well stocked selection.
Toys R Us for true musicians. Lol
I think this store could be great, but they need to invest in training their staff on genuine service, teamwork and product knowledge.
We've been in need of a larger music shop ever since Daddys Junky Music closed down. Was elated when I heard a Guitar Center was coming. As always, the guitar selection is great and the staff was helpful to me. I would like to see a larger amp and pedal selection in the future, though. It's my go-to shop for all music gear.
Service was great until the end of what was a trade-in transaction..... didn’t have a drivers license for identification, but had a Passport instead. This is when they told me the deal was off because it was against “company policy” to accept anything BUT a drivers license! Ummm...... yeah...... that’s the dumbest ship I’ve ever heard of! GC can close like Gibson for all I care! Your policies are wrong!
That said, I've been disappointed by the service every time I've gone in. After having stopped in 3 times and making purchases on two of those trips, here's what my experience has been like:
