Awesome place. I've had 4 different stylist and perfect every time!! I highly recommend Gina or Colleen :-)
Went there for an easy cut. 7 on top and 3 on the sides with a razor. After saying she was not cutting anything on a 7, she switched to a 6 which also did not cut much. She then did the sides and finished. Was in the chair for maybe 5 minutes. Some hair was cut off so I thought that it wasn't as long as I was thinking. When I got home, it didn't seem short enough so I decided to use my hair cutting kit and, voila, the 7 cut almost a half inch off my hair and the 3 did as well. What a waste of time and $22.00!
I described what I wanted with photos and she said she'd do her own placement of highlights but not to worry, that it would look awesome. But when it was all done, I had very light yellow at the crown, a black horizontal band in the middle where I'm guessing the bleach wasn't evenly distributed with bright orange ends. There's also random yellow splotches all throughout these oddly colored bands. It looks downright weird. The highlights were not chunky at all, you can't really even see highlights, it's just horizontal stripes almost like a weird discolored ombre which I have never, ever had done nor did I want. People are making comments asking about my "Halloween hair" now which is humiliating.
The location is clean, the stylists are nice enough. But now I have striped hair going in a horizontal pattern with random yellow splotches. I brought in pictures of my hair from my previous salon experience. I ordered the City Lights package. I asked for "chunky, stripey highlights against my deep chocolate brown hair," showed my photos but they did the opposite. I'd brought in photos of myself from my last highlights years and years ago plus some from Google of what I wanted to ensure a good result.
First, my hair is below my chin (at my shoulders) so I was told there'd be additional $50 fee, $10 of which was because my hair might take longer than usual to blow dry. I'd never heard that at any salon before plus there's nothing on the Hair Cuttery site about extra fees for length below the chin / neck area but I agreed to pay it.
Nice place and not much wait.
Due to the "smile back guarantee" they did not charge me but I now have to see a professional for an extreme color correction which is upwards of $450 to repair this incident. The Hair Cuttery stylist apologized and said it's a porosity issue with my hair, not the fault of the bleach or products used. That the highlights in the photos I brought in were probably done on virgin hair or possibly low lights (they were definitely highlights and my hair was not virgin hair at the time I had the pics taken.) The pro at my color correction consultation at the other salon said it is not an issue of porosity; the bleach should have simply been applied much differently and applied in sections versus all at once: to the center of the shaft, then to the tips and root area for even processing. While I'm not upset about the potential overcharge as I was not charged at all, I'm upset it wasn't done accurately and I'm upset that I wasted a full day at a Hair Cuttery which resulted in a very expensive repair. I also don't like the fact I have horizontal striping in odd bands around my head with random yellow splotches which is eliciting comments.
Great place for your next hair cut, but I would not recommend Jasmine.
